This Privacy Policy explains what information Compressly (“we”, “us”) collects when you use this website and how it is handled. Our guiding principle is simple: your files are none of our business.
1. Client-side processing of your images
Compressly does not upload, transmit, store, or collect the images you select. All compression, resizing, format conversion, metadata removal and ZIP packaging are performed locally in your web browser using client-side technology (the HTML Canvas API and JavaScript). Your image files remain on your own computer or mobile device at all times and are never sent over the internet to our servers (because no processing server exists). When you close or refresh the tab, the in-memory copies held by your browser are discarded.
2. Information we collect
- Image files and their contents: none. We have no technical ability to access them after the page loads, as processing happens on your device.
- Preferences stored in your browser: if you use them, your light/dark theme choice and cookie-consent preference are saved locally in your browser using
localStorage. This data never leaves your device and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings. - Contact messages: if you email us or use the contact form, we receive the information you choose to provide (such as your name, email address and message), which we use solely to reply to you.
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not request or store names, addresses, or phone numbers to use the tool.
3. Cookies and Google AdSense
This website displays advertising provided by Google AdSense to keep the tool free. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
- Google's use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) enables Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

4. Log data and analytics
Standard technical data such as browser type, device type, language, referring/exit pages, and aggregate usage statistics may be collected by our hosting or advertising providers to operate and secure the site. This data is not linked to the content of your images, which are never transmitted.
5. Third-party links
This site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites and encourage you to read their privacy policies.
6. Children's privacy
Compressly is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because no account or personal data is required to use the tool, no such information is solicited.
7. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California and other jurisdictions have rights regarding their personal data, including access, correction and deletion. Because we do not maintain accounts or databases of user content, the only personal information we typically hold is what you send us via email, which you may ask us to delete at any time. For advertising-related choices, use the opt-out links in section 3.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date.
