Compression results
Image compression involves trade-offs between file size and visual quality, and results depend entirely on the source image, the settings chosen, and the capabilities of your particular browser and device. We do not guarantee any specific compressed file size, image quality, dimension, or percentage reduction. Lossy formats (JPEG and WebP) permanently discard image data; this process cannot be reversed, and Compressly cannot recover your original quality after compression. Always keep an unchanged backup copy of important images.
Metadata removal
The “strip metadata/EXIF” feature relies on standard browser image re-encoding and is offered on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee that every form of embedded metadata, color profile, thumbnail, or marker will be removed or preserved in every browser or file format. If your use case requires verified metadata removal (for example, legal or journalistic purposes), independently verify the output file with dedicated software.
Local processing and data loss
All processing occurs locally in your browser; no images are uploaded to or stored by us. Accordingly, we cannot retrieve files lost due to closing a tab, browser crashes, device failure, accidental deletion, or any other reason. You are solely responsible for maintaining backups.
